MATTHEW.JAMES.OVENS
ABOUT
Hello and welcome to my website! I’m Matthew Ovens, an actor and writer based in London. After spending the majority of my youth immersed in performing arts, it was my time at Bath Spa University, where I graduated with honours in Drama Studies and Creative Writing, that ignited my passion for screen acting and scriptwriting. Both of which aligned perfectly with my creative ambitions. My acting career so far has been filled with opportunities to work on notable projects, including my first professional role on Channel 4’s critically acclaimed series "Humans". Each project has been a stepping stone and an opportunity to further refine my skills and network, whilst fueling my love for cinematic storytelling. As a writer, I am drawn to the intriguing crossover of darkness and humor. Therefore, my writing often explores dark themes, while weaving comedy into these narratives as a form of respite and reflection. This fusion of genres not only challenges me creatively but also resonates with audiences who appreciate a thoughtful, laughter-filled exploration of life’s complexities. Currently, I am proudly represented by FindleyRavenheart in London and Luber Roklin Entertainment in Los Angeles. Both agencies have been incredibly supportive in helping me navigate and grow within the ever-evolving entertainment industry. I am eager to continue exploring diverse roles and crafting stories that entertain, challenge, and provoke thought, all while pushing the boundaries of conventional storytelling. Thank you for visiting my website. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and look forward to connecting with you!

'Another Heart'
PRODUCER
I Produced the music video 'Another Heart' by artist, Ilira. We combined two storylines to help portray the artists vision. Using a combination of acting and dancing to show the breakdown of a relationship, whilst pairing this with multiple tracking shots of Ilira singing and performing the lyrics to camera.
'John Dwendle'
ACTOR / DIRECTOR / WRITER
John Dwendle is a comedy pilot that I wrote, directed and starred in. The piece was inspired by lockdown and follows a young man revisiting past memories along with present life experiences, to tell an intriguing story of how he fell in love in his local supermarket, over a packet of frozen quiche.
'Port Side'
ACTOR / ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
This piece follows a young man trapped in a dark world led by his thoughts and inner demons.
I worked with MACKFILM to develop the storyline and assisted with directing the artist, 'Wide Eyed' to help bring the story to life. The film was made in association with 'Calm', a company that specialise in helping support people suffering with poor mental health.
'Wide Eyed'
WRITER
I worked alongside MackFilm to help create and write the story behind 'Mia'. 'Alex Davies', (musician) was inspired to write 'Mia' after the birth of his daughter. We felt that intertwining the beauty of nature and the innocence of a young girl playing, would help capture and elevate the heart-felt, sincerity of the song that Alex wrote.
